Checklist for Survival Gear
Jul 16
It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting to assembly items for your disaster kit or already have many items gathered, you need a list to help you cover the basics. To better help everyone prepare, I have included a link to my survival gear checklist. This is a PDF file that can be downloaded, printed and shared as needed.
This checklist is not all inclusive but it does make a great starting point. As you browse through the items on the list, think about how these items may or may not be applicable for your specific situation. Use these items as a suggestion and consider how they, or something like them might be useful to you, your family or friends.
Start with the basics and those items you can easily assembly. Having even a few survival items is a great start and can greatly enhance your situation during a disaster. I can’t say this enough, begin your planning for the most probable situation and move to the less likely situations. Living in North Texas, my biggest concern is tornadoes and thunder storms. Both of these could and have left me without electricity.
Once you have some items assembled, remember to put them in a location that is easy to access and share this location with other members of your household. It’s important that everyone knows the location since you might not always be there to help them during a disaster. If you have any specialty items, make sure others know how to use them before the need arises.
I suggest that you place this list with your items and a copy in a place where you will see it on a regular basis. Having a copy of the list in a place that is visible will help your remember to periodically check your items. It’s important that you regularly check your items since some items can go bad over time. These items could include, food, batteries and phone numbers.
If you have suggestions for the list, I’d really appreciate you leaving a comment below so everyone can benefit and be more prepared. If nothing else, let me know if you find the list helpful.
Lastly, I would like to invite you to sign-up for the email newsletter. This mailing list will be used to update you about changes to the checklist, important updates and occasional reminders to check your gear. I promise that you will not be bombarded with emails and your information will not be sold or shared.
